Piedmont Augusta CEO Lily Jung Henson, M.D., has been named one of Modern Healthcare’s 2024 Women Leaders, making her the only hospital leader in Georgia and South Carolina to receive the honor. The recognition highlights her leadership in advancing patient-centered care, health equity, and gender equity in healthcare. Dr. Henson, who became CEO in January 2023, oversees more than 4,000 employees across Piedmont Augusta, Piedmont McDuffie, and Piedmont Summerville hospitals. She previously led Piedmont Henry Hospital through the COVID-19 crisis and spearheaded major expansion efforts.

With a background as a neurologist and a long history of national and local leadership, Dr. Henson has served on boards including the American Academy of Neurology and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A first-generation Chinese American raised in Spanish Harlem, she is also a dedicated mentor and advocate for workforce development. Her leadership philosophy centers on empowering teams, fostering safe environments, and delivering exceptional care.
