Let your Chamber help you become a State Certified Drug Free Workplace through participation in the Drugs Don't Work Program. Note: Self -Insured companies receive the same 7.5% discount off their state assessment fees!

5 Easy Steps to Becoming a State Certified Drug Free Workplace
STEP 1: SUBSTANCE ABUSE POLICY

Your company must have a substance abuse policy in place that meets all state of Georgia requirements. At no charge to you, we will provide a state recommended 'fill-in-the-blank' policy in English and Spanish. Simply print the policy on company letterhead and hand it out to all employees.

STEP 2: TWO HOURS OF SUPERVISOR TRAINING (REQUIRED BY GA LAW)

Again, at no charge to you, we will provide training videos/DVD's that will meet the training requirement along with a subscription the Supervisor Training Newsletters. After your first year of certification your supervisor training requirement is reduced to a minimum of one hour. The supervisor newsletters are the most cost-effective and efficient way to meet this annual training requirement.

STEP 3: TWO HOURS OF EMPLOYEE EDUCATION (REQUIRED BY GA LAW)

You will receive the Employee Education Newsletters on a monthly basis via email and by distributing the newsletter to your employees once a month you will have met the two-hour employee education requirement for the first year, and each year thereafter. One way to ensure your employees receive their newsletter each month is to attach them to your employee's paychecks. However, how you choose to distribute them is up to you.

After the first year of certification you are required to conduct one hour of employee education annually. The newsletters are the most cost-effective and efficient way to continue meeting this annual training requirement.

STEP 4: TYPES OF TESTING MANDATED BY LAW

You must conduct pre-employment, reasonable suspicion (for cause) post-rehab and post-accident drug testing. Random and blanket testing (of all employees) is not required, but is permitted and recommended.

(You do not have to drug test your entire workforce and you do not have to random test).

STEP 5: EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) OR RESOURCE FILE (REQUIRED BY GA LAW)

Included in your membership package you will find a printed list of all treatment and counseling centers in Georgia. This list should be posted in an appropriate and conspicuous location.

We will be glad to assist you throughout the entire certification process.
